From a mum to her daughters It is only a couple of month ago I closed my web shop with maternity gifts I had designed myself. Almost everything is sold, but I have saved a few special things, which actually never came in production. I still love the design very much and have decided to keep the last few products for my two daughters when (I hoop) they get their own children. I think that it could be something special for them to receive, when they become a mum like me. Today I packed it all carefully in strong plastic bags. I am going to store it in the attic until one of my daughters come and tell me that I am going to be a grandma. At the moment I can’t imagine me as a grandma yet. They are only 10 and 12 years old. But I do hope…

Flavour explosion Tandoori chicken naan pizza Today I want to share a really good recipe for a special pizza. A flavour explosion Tandoori chicken naan pizza! Almost every Friday I make homemade pizza for the family and we are all very crazy about our own pizza here. But when we eat it every Friday, we also need some variation for the toppings, other wise we would get bored of it. A while ago I tried looking for some new flavours and came across this recipe. It really amazed us all, because it came with an explosion of so many flavours and textures that at the same time combine so well together. First you have the soft naan bread with cumin and garlic. Then the quite spicy sauce and chicken with yogurt and at last the sweetness and softness of the mango!!! Next to that you also get a taste of…

Seeds – kitchen garden. Peppers – Zucchini – Radishes – Spring onions – Peas – Lettuce – Cucumber – Basil – Thyme – Oregano – Coriander – Parsley  Sage….. Preparing The spring is here and the sun is shining all over the last couple of day’s, and then I always get the urge to prepare everything in the garden for a beautiful summer. That also means that it’s time to start with the seeds for my kitchen garden. My daughter helped me the other day with planting the first seeds for my kitchen garden. I love to grow my own herbs and vegetables, but our garden is not very big so I need to make a selection of what I want. I have received a lot of seeds from family and friends, which didn’t do anything with the seeds or didn’t have the patience of trying to grow them. (You…

Simple colorful teenage room Last week I showed you the room of my youngest daughter Emmelie. A sweet simple colourful girls room with soft colours. Today I want to take you to the Simple colorful teenage room of my almost teenage daughter ‘Alieke’. Alieke has started high school this year and so many things have change for her. New school, new friends, a lot of new teachers and lessons, plus that she is going into puberty and getting new interests. Her room is for her very important, because she spends a lot of time there after school with her best friend, and she needs a calm place for making her homework. Desk She has a big desk with space for her laptop and books when she is doing her homework. But she can also do her homework here together with her best friend. Mostly they are sitting here planning or…

Preserving fresh herbs in the fridge Did you know that you can preserve fresh herbes in the fridge 2-3 weeks if you wrap them in a wet piece of kitchen paper towel? It’s true!! I have done it many times by now and it surprises me every time how long they stay fresh. I just love to use fresh herbs in my food and in the spring and summer I try to grow my own favourite ones in the garden. In the winter I mostly by a small plant to keep in my kitchen window, but sometime I also buy a little bunch, which is already cut of the plant. Most of the time I do not have to use it all for one dish and find it’s a pity to throw it away. So I have experience that you can actually store it for quite a long time in…

Roasted Beet, Baby Kale and Brie Quiche I just love the Internet and all the things you can find there. A while ago I came across this recipe ‘Roasted Beet, Baby Kale and Brie Quiche’ and made it together with my cooking club. It was just delicious and perfect for a side dish or as a main meal because it’s fills quite a lot. The smell of the quiche is so wonderful and strong from the very first moment you put the vegetable in the oven till the whole quiche is ready. Today Today I would like to share it with you as well because it a recipe where you can easily replace the vegestables for others. There are many different roots vegestables which would be just as lovely in this combination with the brie and Fontina cheese. You just need to try it out and see what works the…

Simple colorful girls room in the attic Today I want to show you the room of my youngest daughter Emmelie. She has a Simple colorful girls room in the attic and I really love the room with its white walls and the colourful accents all around. The colours really pop out of the white and give a warm, happy and sweet feel to the room. Emmelie is 10 years old but still like to play with dolls and stuffed animals. She especially has a thing with stuffed animals and it seems like she can’t get enough of them. That is also why we went for these colours when we redecorated it last year. Bureau: My daughter’s bureau is placed behind a small wall, which is fastened to the table. It separates the room in two and prevents her for being distracted when she has to do her homework. On the…

Today I want to give you a DIY – From old retro breadbox to Scandinavian/Industrial side table. Years ago I bought this old bread box in a second hand shop for the children’s room. The girls had a lot of retro stuff in their rooms and it was a perfect storage for toys + I loved the flowers and the colour combination. However the girls and I are done with that much retro at home, and my daughters didn’t want it in their room’s any longer. I was thinking about bringing it back to the second hand shop, but…… then I got the idea of giving it a makeover. Because it is made of a metal material it would be a perfect object with an industrial kind of look, and the colour black would fit perfectly to my work area/room. Everywhere here in Holland you can find these kind of…

Hellen van Meene – The Years Shall Run Like Rabbits A background story: My daughter was a couple of years ago asked to pose for a photographer here in Heiloo. The Photographer was a mother from a girl in her ballet class and she was constantly looking for young girl models. I didn’t know her and looked her up on the Internet. It turned out to be a very famous photographer/artist which is known all over the world with exhibitions running from New York to Tokyo, Germany and of course in Holland. Hellen van Meene Hellen told us that she was busy with a book (The Years Shall Run Like Rabbits) and she wanted to make some classic pictures of Alieke for the book. Hellen takes all her pictures with natural light, therefore she had planned the photo-shoot on a Saturday afternoon around two o’clock, because then there was a…

Scary vampire girl for carnival Carnival is around here in Holland and my youngest daughters big wish is to be dressed like a Scary vampire girl. She has been watching a program on the television lately with a girly vampire and she wanted to be something like her. Together we looked through Pinterest and found the look she wanted. “Mum! Will you please make a costume like that for me?? Please!!!” No way around. No excuses!! I knew what I had to do. My daughter wanted to be a scary vampire girl and she needed my help. Lucky for her I also love to make costumes and in one day I made her this costume. She was so happy with it, and the other day we dressed her up with all the makeup for the perfect look as well. Tomorrow (Tuesday) they are celebrating carnival at school and then…

Make your own Granola Breakfast is one of the most important meals according to wise people, and I think that they are right. I really feel much better after a healthy breakfast than for instance after eating a delicious croissant. My favourite breakfast at the moment is yogurt with banana and Granola. I always make the Granola myself and often change from time to time with my ingredients. Oatmeal is always the base and the rest depends on what I can find or which mood I am in. I make my Granola with: Oatmeal Nut mix without salt (hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans and raisins) Dry fruit (plum, apricot, pear, apple) Mix of Super fruit and seeds (cranberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, goijberries and mulberries) Hemp seeds Lin seeds Chia seeds Sometimes I bake all the ingredients (except the fruit) 15 minutes in the oven, but moostly I don’t even bother.…

Easy wrapping tip with great effect This weekend we had a 9 year old birthday party. Going to a birthday party sometimes comes with a challenge in finding the right present. But this time it was luckily not that difficult. It was a birthday girl and that makes it for me so much easier to find something special. I have two girls myself, so I am use to all that girly stuff and kind of know what is hot and what is not. A second challenge that I like to take is wrapping the present in a special way. Make it interesting before you see what you really get. You can buy all kind of nice things to decorate your presents with, but I prefer to do it my way and not too expensive. After all the wrapping always get thrown away after it has been unwrapped and I find…

In my search for healthy snacks I found this recipe; spinach and sweet potato muffin. I gave it a try and I absolutely love them. They are lightly clammy with a little bit sweetness from the potato and saltyness from the Parmesan cheese.  Very healthy and full of flavours. If you want to try them yourself I here leave you the recipe. They are very easy to make and the preparation cost you only about 30-40 minutes. Ingredients: 100 g young spinach leaves 180 g flour 3 tsp baking powder 150g sweet potato (peeled and grated) 60 g sun-dried tomatoes (pot drained and cut into pieces) 30 g parmesan cheese (grated) 2 eggs 150 ml skimmed milk 2 tbsp olive oil muffin pan with 12 holes greaseproof paper What to do: Line the muffin pan with baking paper. New start, new logo, new working space 2017 is for me the year for a new start, a new look for my blog and a new working space. A place which can give me peace and inspiration for creating new things. Therefore I am so happy with my new work area/home studio. I just can’t wait to get my fingers on all the idea’s that I have flying around in my head and to work them all out right here. The final result is a very fresh and light room with a touch of Scandinavian to it. What have happend? First of all I have got a nice long desk for my computer and my sewing machine. The table now looks so much more tidy and clean, that I hope that I can keep that look. Secondly my back wall is decorated with wallpaper with a simple black and…

Healthy Banana bread with walnuts, I love to experiment with new recipes and at the moment I want to find tasty healthy recipes, which my children also would love to eat. My youngest daughter is very critical with food and would (if I let her) only eat unhealthy food, like lots of chocolate, candy, and pancakes and for dinner only pasta with a lot of cheese. So I have decided to go look for new tasty healthy recipes’ and try them out one by one. One of the problems I have with my girls is especially in the afternoon when they come home from school. They are then hungry for sweets and often get a snack like a Sultana of some kind of wheat cookie which sound kind of healthy but isn’t really, I think. So I wanted to find something, which could replace this. Looking through Pinterest (which is…
