Carnival for kids
It’s carnival around the world and here in Holland as well. Unfortunately for our children, we live in an area, which doesn’t do much about carnival. There are no parades in the area and you only find it here for the kids at school. If you want to celebrate a real carnival, you only find them in the south of Holland. There they live for the carnival.
But my girls love the carnival and love to plan what to wear. Luckily they celebrate it on their school for a whole day and are allowed to dress up the way they want to.
This year Alieke wanted to be a scarecrow.
The scarecrow was actually quite easy to make. Her dress was half a circle with a top like an overall. Different pieces of fabric here and there with big stitches and from a Hawaii skirt we bought, we made an edge of straw underneath the skirt and on several places together with the contrast fabrics. The denim shirt she had already and on her hat, we placed a blackbird for the fun. Makeup and straw in her hair made it all complete and she looked so cute.
